Every ingredient we supply is documented, tested, and compliant for your market
We don’t just forward factory documents. We verify what’s in them, check against your target market’s regulatory limits, and make sure you have everything you need before placing an order.
Every order includes full documentation
Professional buyers expect complete paperwork. We prepare and provide every document you need — on our letterhead, ready for your regulatory files.
We know the rules for your market
Different markets have different requirements. We guide you through what matters for your specific ingredient and destination.
United States
Dietary supplement ingredients sold in the US fall under DSHEA. We ensure the factory has FDA registration and that your COA meets DSHEA documentation requirements.
We check heavy metal levels (lead ≤0.5μg/day, cadmium ≤4.1μg/day) against Prop 65 safe harbor thresholds before recommending an ingredient for the US market.
For premium supplement brands requiring USP or NSF certification, we can source from certified facilities. Please specify this requirement upfront.
European Union
For cosmetic ingredients, we check the EU CosIng database to confirm the ingredient is not restricted or prohibited. INCI name and usage concentration are verified.
Some botanical ingredients require Novel Food authorization for food/supplement use in the EU. We flag these during sourcing so you can consult your regulatory advisor.
For cosmetic raw materials imported into the EU, REACH registration may apply for volumes above 1 tonne/year. We provide relevant safety data sheets to support your compliance.
United Kingdom
Post-Brexit, the UK has its own cosmetic regulations (UK Cosmetics Regulation) and food supplement rules. Requirements broadly mirror the EU but with separate registration requirements.
We provide UK-compatible documentation and flag any ingredients with UK-specific restrictions. Recommend consulting a UK regulatory specialist for finished product compliance.
Canada
Natural health products in Canada require a Natural Product Number (NPN) from Health Canada. The ingredient must appear on Health Canada’s approved ingredient list with permitted claims.
We supply the documentation needed to support your NPN application, including COA, specification sheet, and evidence of traditional use where applicable.
We provide compliance guidance based on our knowledge of ingredient sourcing requirements. We are not a regulatory consultancy. For finished product compliance, label claims, and market authorization, always consult a qualified regulatory advisor in your target market.
Independent verification you can trust
Factory-issued COAs are a starting point, not an endpoint. For ingredients where quality is critical — and in this industry, that’s all of them — independent third-party testing provides an additional layer of verification.
We work with SGS and Eurofins, two of the world’s most respected testing and certification organizations, to provide independent test reports for our ingredients.
The world’s leading inspection, verification, testing and certification company. Recognized by regulators and buyers in every major market.
A global leader in food, environment, pharmaceutical and cosmetics testing. Particularly trusted for nutraceutical and cosmetic ingredient verification.
Quality & compliance FAQ
Absolutely — we encourage it. Many of our customers send samples to their own preferred testing labs before placing a bulk order. We provide the COA and spec sheet to make that process easier. If the results don’t match our documentation, we want to know.
COAs are issued on BotaNexus letterhead. The underlying test data comes from the factory’s quality control laboratory, verified against the specification. This protects the factory’s identity while giving you professional documentation for your files.
We check every COA against California Prop 65 safe harbor levels — the strictest heavy metal limits in the US market. Lead must be below 0.5μg per daily serving, cadmium below 4.1μg. If an ingredient doesn’t meet these levels, we flag it before you order.
Available certifications vary by ingredient and factory, but commonly include: GMP (cGMP 21 CFR Part 111), ISO 9001, USDA Organic, EU Organic, Non-GMO, Kosher, and Halal. Please specify your certification requirements when making an inquiry so we can confirm availability upfront.
Ingredient approval depends on the application (supplement, cosmetic, food), the specific market, and your finished product claims. We can advise on general sourcing compliance, but for finished product regulatory approval, we recommend working with a specialist regulatory consultant in your target market.
Yes, for many of our most popular ingredients we can source USDA Organic or EU Organic certified versions. Organic certification typically adds 20–40% to the ingredient cost and may affect lead times. Please specify when requesting a sample.
